Zhejiang University MBBS 2026: Fees, Eligibility and Admission Guide

Editorial planning image · Zhejiang University MBBS is based in Yiwu
A high-entry-standard English MBBS route
Zhejiang University’s 2026 English-taught Clinical Medicine programme is a six-year MBBS based at its International School of Medicine in Yiwu. The published annual tuition is RMB 42,800. Applicants need strong science marks, English evidence and CSCA Mathematics and Chemistry. The 2026 application deadline has passed, so students planning the next intake must wait for the university’s new official guide rather than assuming the same dates or conditions will continue.
Duration: 6 years
2026 tuition: RMB 42,800/year
Teaching: English, with Chinese study
CSCA: Mathematics + Chemistry
Location: Yiwu, Zhejiang
Is Zhejiang University a realistic MBBS option for you?
Zhejiang University can suit a high-performing applicant who is comfortable with a competitive selection process and a six-year English MBBS in Yiwu. For 2026, ZJU required at least 70% in high-school Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology, an accepted English score or qualifying international test result, and CSCA Mathematics and Chemistry in English. Tuition was RMB 42,800 per year. The 31 May 2026 deadline has passed; the next application cycle, fees and tests must be checked when ZJU releases a new guide.
What is confirmed—and what must still be checked?
The most important distinction is between the published 2026 intake and a future intake that has not yet received a full official admission guide.
Confirmed in official 2026 material
- Clinical Medicine (MBBS) is taught in English and lasts six years.
- The programme is offered by Zhejiang University’s International School of Medicine in Yiwu.
- Published tuition is RMB 42,800 per academic year.
- The published application fee is RMB 800 and medical insurance is RMB 800 per academic year.
- Applicants need CSCA Mathematics and Chemistry in English.
- The programme-specific deadline was 31 May 2026.
Not yet confirmed for the next intake
- The next application opening and closing dates.
- Whether tuition, insurance or application charges will change.
- The next intake’s available places and interview schedule.
- Exact hostel allocation and the charge attached to the offered room.
- Whether language-score exemptions or thresholds will change.
- Any updated Pakistan regulatory conditions that apply before departure.
The university states that programme catalogs may be adjusted and that the final tuition rate is the amount written in the admission notice. That makes a fresh official offer more reliable than an agency table, an old fee screenshot or a copied social-media post.
Zhejiang University’s six-year MBBS structure
ZJU’s published curriculum moves from pre-medical foundations into basic medical sciences, integrated clinical learning and senior clerkship. Chinese-language study continues alongside medicine because students need to communicate in daily life and clinical settings.

Year 1: pre-medical foundations
The published plan introduces biology, cell biology, organic chemistry, physics, anatomy, mathematics for medicine, research, medical humanities, global health and early clinical exposure.
Years 2–3: basic medicine
Students progress through biochemistry, physiology, histology, embryology, regional anatomy, pathology, pharmacology, microbiology, immunology, genetics, neuroscience and related subjects.
Years 4–5: clinical integration
The curriculum includes internal medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynaecology, paediatrics, radiology, emergency medicine, neurology, psychiatry, ophthalmology and clinical training.
Year 6: senior clerkship
The final stage includes a clinical sciences examination, senior clerkship and comprehensive clinical-skills assessment. The exact rotation plan remains a university decision.
| Stage | Purpose | Examples from the published curriculum |
|---|---|---|
| Pre-med | Build science, communication and study foundations | Biology, physics, organic chemistry, anatomy, medical mathematics, Chinese, research and humanities |
| Pre-clinical | Understand normal function and disease | Physiology, biochemistry, pathology, pathophysiology, pharmacology, microbiology, immunology and genetics |
| Clinical integration | Connect basic science to patient care | Internal medicine, surgery, radiology, paediatrics, obstetrics and gynaecology, psychiatry and emergency medicine |
| Senior clerkship | Develop supervised clinical competence | Clinical rotations, clinical sciences examination and comprehensive clinical-skills assessment |

Zhejiang University MBBS requirements for 2026
The programme has both university-wide undergraduate rules and MBBS-specific academic and language conditions. Meeting the minimum does not guarantee admission; ZJU uses competitive review and may arrange a video interview.
University-wide conditions
- Non-Chinese citizen holding an ordinary foreign passport.
- Under 25 years of age for the 2026 undergraduate cycle.
- High-school graduate, or a final-year student able to supply a pre-graduation certificate and final diploma before registration.
- Good physical and mental health, appropriate conduct and no criminal record.
- Compliance with China’s nationality and international-student rules where the applicant or parents have Chinese citizenship history.
MBBS-specific academic conditions
- At least 70% in high-school Mathematics.
- At least 70% in Physics.
- At least 70% in Chemistry.
- At least 70% in Biology, including Zoology and Botany where these appear separately.
- CSCA Mathematics and Chemistry, taken in English.
English-language evidence
The 2026 English-program catalog lists several routes: IELTS Academic 6.0 overall with at least 5.0 in every component; TOEFL iBT 75 with at least 15 in Reading, Listening, Speaking and Writing; Cambridge Advanced English 170; or Duolingo 100. The catalog also says that an IB, A-level or another qualifying international standardised test report can exempt the applicant from providing a separate English certificate. Applicants should not assume that an ordinary school medium-of-instruction letter will automatically replace these programme-specific conditions.

How to interpret the 70% rule
The official catalog names four separate subjects. A strong overall FSc result does not necessarily correct a mark below 70% in one required subject. Pakistani applicants should review the marks shown against Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology on their school documents. If Mathematics was not part of the completed qualification, ask ZJU in writing how the programme rule applies before paying the non-refundable application fee.

Zhejiang University MBBS fee structure
RMB is the source currency. PKR and USD values can change quickly, so this page does not turn them into fixed promises. Use the university’s written offer and the exchange rate on the payment date.
Published for the six-year Clinical Medicine (MBBS) programme.
The general ZJU undergraduate application charge.
Required for international-student registration.
Tuition, application and insurance only. This is not a complete first-year package.

What is not included in RMB 44,400?
The 2026 programme catalog does not attach a guaranteed Yiwu room or price to every admitted MBBS student. Confirm the allocated residence and fee in writing.
Food, local travel, mobile service, utilities, books, clothing and personal needs vary by student and should be budgeted separately.
Allow for visa work, medical examination, residence-permit procedures, document legalisation, travel and any deposits stated in the final offer.
Rotation locations, travel and final-year arrangements can affect the budget. Confirm these with ZJU and the regulator for your intended licensing route.
Six-year tuition planning
If tuition remained unchanged at RMB 42,800 for all six academic years, tuition alone would total RMB 256,800. That multiplication is a planning illustration, not a university guarantee: annual rates, study duration after a repeat or deferral, accommodation and other charges can change. Build a contingency instead of calculating only the advertised first year.
Lead Scholarship for new MBBS students
ZJU’s official scholarship page describes an award of RMB 20,000 for approximately 5% of new MBBS students. Candidates must first be admitted and prepay tuition; a separate scholarship application is not required. Selection considers academic performance, standardised tests, English and the online interview. Because it is competitive, do not deduct RMB 20,000 from the amount you need unless ZJU confirms the award.
What Pakistani applicants must check before admission
MOE inclusion, university admission and permission to practise in Pakistan are three different questions. A university can appear in a Chinese MOE list without automatically guaranteeing PM&DC student registration, internship acceptance, NRE eligibility or a future licence.

- 1Check your Pakistan-side eligibility
PM&DC’s current foreign-admission guidance states minimum FSc or equivalent, MDCAT and subject conditions. Read the policy that applies to your admission session.
- 2Verify the institution and qualification
The policy asks students to ensure the institution meets the stated ECFMG/foreign-regulator conditions and that the qualification is in allopathic medicine.
- 3Obtain PM&DC student registration before departure
The current guideline says the Student Registration Certificate should be obtained through PM&DC’s online portal before proceeding abroad.
- 4Protect attendance and training evidence
The policy refers to at least 6,200 programme hours, at least 80% attendance and five years of study. Keep official transcripts, attendance, rotations and internship records.
- 5Plan for NRE and provisional registration
The guideline states that the National Registration Examination is required for licensing. A separate PM&DC notice also requires provisional registration for foreign students or graduates undertaking clinical training, internship, observership or house job in Pakistan.
Read the current official documents: PM&DC foreign undergraduate admission guidance and PM&DC provisional-registration notice.
How the Zhejiang University application works
The official 2026 cycle ran through ZJU’s online international-student system. Applicants paid the fee, uploaded the full file, passed preliminary review and could be invited to a video interview. A pre-admission place only became formal after the required first-year tuition prepayment.

Application sequence
- 1Confirm the new intake guide
Wait for the next official ZJU undergraduate guide and English-program catalog. Record the actual opening date, deadline, fees, CSCA subjects and language thresholds.
- 2Check academic and regulatory fit
Compare your four science/mathematics marks, age, graduation status, English evidence and PM&DC conditions before paying an application fee.
- 3Prepare CSCA and English evidence
Book test dates early enough for the valid results to be available before the university deadline.
- 4Upload a complete application
Use the official ZJU system. The university states that supplementary documents generally will not be accepted after submission, so quality control matters.
- 5Attend any interview
ZJU can assess academic performance, language ability and video-interview performance as part of competitive selection.
- 6Review pre-admission and payment
Check the degree, school, campus, fees, refund position and deadline. The 2026 guide said failure to prepay first-year tuition within the stated period cancelled pre-admission.
- 7Complete visa and registration
Follow the electronic admission and study-in-China documents, X1 visa process and exact registration instructions issued to successful applicants.
Core document checklist
Ordinary foreign passport valid beyond the university’s stated date, plus nationality-history documents where the special MOE rule applies.
High-school diploma or pre-graduation certificate, full transcript and relevant standardised or national examination results.
Valid CSCA report and accepted English-language evidence or the programme’s permitted exemption document.
Approximately 800-word personal statement, two signed teacher recommendations and relevant academic awards where available.
An applicant under 18 by the university’s stated reference date needs the prescribed guardian guarantee with an adult guardian in mainland China.
Documents must be in Chinese or English. Other-language documents need the original plus the notarised translation required by ZJU.

Where Zhejiang University MBBS students study
The English MBBS is offered by the International School of Medicine in Yiwu, not as a generic programme on every Zhejiang University campus. The school’s published address is 200 Hushan Road, Yiwu, Zhejiang Province.

International School of Medicine
The Yiwu campus combines the International School of Medicine, International Institutes of Medicine and links with the Fourth Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine.
Student Residence A
ZJU-ISM’s campus map describes Residence A as a living-group building with capacity for 1,500 students and shared kitchen, social, laundry, piano and retail spaces.
Clinical environment
The curriculum moves into bedside learning and clinical rotations. The university, not an agent, determines the actual training schedule and placement arrangements.
Accommodation questions to ask in writing
- Which residence and room type are assigned to new international MBBS students?
- Is the quoted amount per student, per bed, per room, per semester or per academic year?
- Are utilities, bedding, internet, deposit and holiday periods included?
- When does online reservation open, and what happens if a student misses it?
- Can the allocation change after arrival?
- What must be completed for local residence registration within 24 hours of arrival?
Campus references: ZJU-ISM maps, residence and travel information and official MBBS contact details.
Who may find this programme suitable?
A famous university name is not enough. The programme needs to fit the applicant’s marks, budget, testing readiness, language plan and Pakistan licensing pathway.
It may suit you if…
- You have at least 70% in each required school subject and preferably a stronger overall academic profile.
- You can prepare for CSCA Mathematics and Chemistry in English.
- You meet one of the published English routes.
- Your family can plan for six years without relying on a competitive scholarship.
- You are willing to study Chinese continuously for clinical communication.
- You will complete PM&DC checks before departure and retain detailed records.
Pause and verify if…
- One of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or Biology is below the published threshold.
- Your qualification did not include Mathematics.
- You need a guaranteed scholarship to afford the degree.
- You are relying on an old deadline, fee sheet or agent assurance.
- You have not checked PM&DC student-registration and NRE conditions.
- Your family budget covers tuition but not housing, living, travel and contingencies.
A practical seven-day preparation plan
- Collect your subject-by-subject transcript and calculate the exact percentage for Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
- Download and save the latest official ZJU undergraduate guide and English-program catalog when the new cycle appears.
- Check the next available CSCA dates and make a realistic Mathematics and Chemistry study schedule.
- Review the accepted English tests and decide which result you can obtain before the deadline.
- Read PM&DC’s current foreign-admission guidance and begin the student-registration process at the correct stage.
- Prepare a six-year family budget in RMB, including accommodation, living costs, travel and a contingency.
- Send ZJU-ISM or a trusted adviser one short list of unresolved questions and keep the written answers.

Zhejiang University MBBS FAQs
Does Zhejiang University offer an English-medium MBBS?
Yes. ZJU’s official 2026 English-program catalog lists Clinical Medicine (MBBS) as a six-year English-taught undergraduate programme at the International School of Medicine in Yiwu.
How much is Zhejiang University MBBS tuition?
The official 2026 catalog lists RMB 42,800 per academic year. The application fee is RMB 800 and the university’s general undergraduate guide lists medical insurance at RMB 800 per academic year. Future rates must be checked in the new catalog and admission notice.
What marks are required for MBBS?
The 2026 catalog requires 70% or above in each of Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology during high school. Admission remains competitive, so meeting the minimum does not guarantee selection.
Is CSCA required?
Yes for the 2026 cycle. ZJU lists Mathematics and Chemistry as the required CSCA subjects for MBBS, with English selected as the examination language.
What English score is accepted?
The 2026 catalog lists IELTS Academic 6.0 overall with at least 5.0 in each component, TOEFL iBT 75 with at least 15 in each component, Cambridge Advanced English 170 or Duolingo 100. It also describes an exemption route using qualifying international standardised tests.
When was the 2026 application deadline?
The programme-specific deadline was 31 May 2026. That date has passed. Do not assume it will be the same for the next cycle; wait for ZJU’s new official guide.
Where is the MBBS programme taught?
The official catalog states that the programme is offered at Zhejiang University’s International School of Medicine in Yiwu City, Zhejiang Province.
Is Chinese studied during the degree?
Yes. The published curriculum includes general Chinese and Medical Chinese across the programme. This supports daily life and communication during clinical learning.
Is the RMB 20,000 scholarship guaranteed?
No. ZJU describes the Lead Scholarship as a competitive award for approximately 5% of new MBBS students. Selection occurs after admission and tuition prepayment, based on academic, test, English and interview performance.
Is Zhejiang University automatically recognised by PM&DC?
No page should promise automatic or permanent recognition. Pakistani students must check the current PM&DC rules, institution criteria, student registration, programme requirements and later NRE pathway before admission.
Can an applicant use a pre-graduation or Hope Certificate?
ZJU’s general 2026 guide allows a final-year applicant to submit a pre-graduation or student-status certificate at application, but the final high-school diploma must be provided no later than registration.
How should I prepare for the next intake?
Keep your academic and passport documents ready, prepare for CSCA Mathematics and Chemistry, plan an accepted English test, review PM&DC requirements and monitor ZJU’s official international-admissions website for the next guide.
Check the difficult points before you pay
Share your subject marks, age, graduation status, English evidence and CSCA plan. The review should identify gaps and questions—not promise admission.

Do your marks, tests and budget fit Zhejiang University?
Send the four required subject marks and your preferred intake. We will explain what is confirmed, what still needs a university answer and which documents to prepare while waiting for the next official admission guide.
