224 papers have been cited by SCI、EI、ISTP, 47 academic books have been published and 58 textbooks have been compiled. Up to now, the university has conducted 37 natural sciences research projects.
Asia-Pacific Journal of Tropical Medicine, the only English-version international journal of tropical medicine in China has been cited by all the international medical retrieval systems (including SCI, and Medline).
Hainan Medical University Journal has been selected for the Chinese Sci-tech Periodicals Citation Report (Core Edition). It has been included in 11 major international databases and 12 international retrieval systems, with its citation rate ranking fourth among more than 230 medical college journals.
The university has offered overseas education with majors including Clinical Medicine, Stomatology, Traditional Chinese Medicine, and Nursing.
It has also established international cooperation with universities including the University of Utah (USA), Newcastle University (UK), and Queensland University of Technology ( Australia ) in the fields of undergraduates exchanging postgraduate and doctorate students collective cultivating.

Ling Xuebin, Wei Chunli, Chen Xinxu, and Xu Jin 2006 majoring in Clinical Medicine won first prize in the South China region and second prize in the national finals for the second national medical college students’ clinical skill contest.
Chen Wenji 2005 majoring in Clinical Medicine won the first national prize during the Chinese Elite Doctor 
Show for the 2012 Spring Leike Cup Challenge on Rheumatism Theme Cases. Liu Mengchen 2008 majoring in Traditional Chinese Medicine won the second prize in the “Golden Bridge · Lan Lang” Cup of the second national contest for college students’ career planning and the Best Innovation Award.

First Affiliated Hospital of Hainan Medical University is a first-class general hospital providing services of medical care, teaching, scientific research, prevention, health care, first aid and community service. Hospital is located in the center of Haikou City, the capital of Hainan Province with beautiful environment and convenient transportation. The hospital was established in 1973, and has nearly 40 years of development history. At present, there are 1500 beds in the hospital, 44 clinical departments and 2316 employees. Among them, there are 549 full-time teachers, 112 professors (Chief Physician), 233 associate professors (Deputy chief physician), the number of experts awarded State Council special allowance and experts in Hainan Province reaches 19, there are 2 part-time doctoral tutors, 25 master tutors, 309 masters and doctors. The annual outpatient amount reaches 1104.1 thousand, and the number of inpatients reaches 35,800, the number of annual hospital surgeries reaches 12,508. First Affiliated Hospital of Hainan Medical University is an important backbone of medical institutions in Hainan Province with rich resources in medical and clinical teaching.
